Originally we had carried out some minor IT and AV repairs in Yacht haven , I had pointed out to crew that the current systems were not up to scratch and I would expect a lot of problems in future. I then got a phone call from Bali saying that all the yacht AV systems were dead and they were just about to start a busy season with back to back guests.
As I already knew the yacht I pointed out the weakest part of the system was the IT and WIFI backbone which especially now with so much IT based AV equipment is vital for systems to work. I put together a crew which flew to Bali and along with help from the local agents Asia Pacific Superyachts helping to clear the notorious local customs with replaced the main IT and Wi-Fi system with a new Ubquiti enterprise grade system. This helped a lot but we still had the problem of the older AV equipment and I discussed possibility of replacing this completely.
Another problem was the yacht was 110v and of course local customs. I was then requested if we could carry out the project within a 8 day period which I agreed to do, I sourced all the 110v equipment and speakers from the USA and TVs and some other kit locally. We then returned to the yacht when the next trip ended for the 8 day period, in that time and working 16 hrs a day our crew replaced all the AV equipment and TVs for 4 main surround sound systems and 8 guest cabins along with crew area and mess.
It was very difficult working on a old quayside in Bali with difficulty getting even getting the basic local parts but I’m proud to say we managed to complete the project and get the yacht back up and running for its season.
Further projects we carried out on the yacht included our own in house proprietary Music, Movie and TV show system called TBoX with HD players in 12 areas.
